Bondi Blitz Festival and Coogee Beach Clean Up
Transition Bondi is busily planning a month of events for Plastic Free July in collaboration with Waverley Council and other community groups in our area.
We want to take the opportunity to look back and acknowledge two great events which have happened in April organised by Seaside Scavenge and Responsible Runners Coogee! We want to commend their great efforts – for taking action, for cleaning up our environment and for keeping our beaches in Bondi and Coogee beautiful.
At the Bondi Blitz Festival participants and volunteers picked up 49.1 KG of waste and 19.5 KG of recycling. People who collected the rubbish could exchange it for “trash tokens” and buy fabulous clothes or other items from the Seaside Scavange second hand market.
Responsible Runners also did amazing work and picked up 300 cigarette butts + more.
What a wonderful way to engage with the community, care for our earth and take steps towards a more conscious way of connecting with nature. Hopefully it will inspire you to make your own change next month. There will be lots of opportunity to engage in a wide variety of events throughout July.
